I have a solution for you but no, the Dexter Hydraulic Drum Brakes item # 23-336-337 would lock up every time you backed your trailer up. You need free backing brakes like the Dexter Hydraulic Trailer Brake Kit - Free Backing - 12" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies item # 23-342-343. These drum brakes are rated up to 7,000 lbs like the ones you were looking at.

As long as your truck's controller has the electric over hydraulic actuator compatibility you won't need to change anything in your truck. If it doesn't there are many options that you can use as a replacement. I recommend the Prodigy P3…
