Recommended Leaf Spring Replacements for a Trailer with a 3,500 Pound Axle

Updated 08/17/2021 | Published 08/16/2021

Question:

Can I put 2. 2,000lb axle springs on my 3500lb rated axle. I know its a 250lb per added spring weight but added that, will it affect anything with only the 500 lb extra difference?

With the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring - 26" Long # e77SR having an axle capacity of 2,000 pounds, each spring is actually only rated to 1,000 pounds. These technically can be used, but you will most likely bottom out when driving under load. With that being said, I suggest either going with 3,500 pound axle springs, or something a little heavier duty if your current springs are not getting the job done.

The closest 3,500 pound option we currently have is the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb Trailer Axles # e54SR. This will measure 25 1/8 inches long and will have a single spring capacity of 1,750 pounds.

For something a little more heavy duty, the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 4,500-lb Trailer Axles # e27SR will be my suggestion.
