On the Curt C51170 can I install a power on/off isolation switch to turn off power while not in use, do I have to recalibrate each time power is restored?

The Curt Spectrum Trailer Brake Controller part # C51170 only draws a small amount of power while not in use. It would only be able to kill the battery from this draw after several months of inactivity. The reason it still draws power while not in use is to store any save settings. Therefore, if you were to install some sort of in-line switch to cut power you would have to go through the setup procedure each time power is restored.
