Question:
Trying to order a slide topper for my RV your measurement example is quite confusing you asked to measure outside flange the outside flange then later they say to only get something that covers 2 1/2 inches past the box size it self, or are you considering the box the interior measurement or 2 1/2 inches beyond each flange. My example the box roof measurement is 135 my flange to flange measurement is one 140 3/4

Helpful Expert Reply:
The flange on a slide-out typically measures 2.5" past the box. So if you were ordering a slide-out topper you would want to measure the flange edge to flange edge to ensure that the awning will fully cover the box with a little extra on each side. In some instances there isn't enough clearance for this in which case we would recommend ordering a slide topper that was small enough to fit the arms without hitting anything else and still cover the box.
For your 140.75" flange edge to flange edge measurement I would recommend a 141" slide topper but since we don't currently offer one in that size I recommend the Solera RV Slide-Out Awning # LCV000139496 or # LCV000168328 for black. These awnings go up to 139" so they will full cover your box with two inches extra on each side. Manufacturers recommend 7" of clearance on each side for the arms so since you'll be using a smaller size you can knock off 7/8" from each side.
