Hi, I have a 2017 Audi Q5 and need to install a brake controller. What is the best option? Will wireless controller + 7 pin adapter work? I have 4pin installed Curt Part Number 56404. Thanks

We have exactly what you need, and I strongly recommend going the wireless brake controller route on your 2017 Audi Q5 so that you don't need to splice into any existing wiring or run wiring into the cabin of the vehicle; this is especially helpful considering the sensitivity of the electrical systems in Audi and other European vehicles.

Since you've already got a Curt T-Connector # C56404 installed you'll just need to add the # ETBC7L to give you a 7 way wiring harness for your Q5 that will allow you to tow a trailer with brakes; the # ETBC7L is designed to work with wireless brake controllers like the Curt Echo # C51180, which is my recommendation. The Echo plugs into the # ETBC7L and then accepts the trailer's 7 way so it's easy to install and the controls are operated via an app that can be downloaded in the iTunes or GooglePlay stores. Your smart phone does require iOS 8.0 or newer/Android 4.4 or newer for this controller to be compatible.
