Installation was straightforward, albeit time consuming -- working solo it took me between 3 and 4 hours. The video instructions are excellent.

Notching the front foot on the hybrid's canister bracket was not obvious to me at first, so that took some trial and error. Also, make sure that the extruded U-nut for the rear foot is aligned with its hole before you torque the driver side bolts down.

I really like the compact fit and tight look. With a 1Up rack, proper mountain bike bars seem to have ample clearance with the rear window. I think this will be solid in the long run.

I've had nothing but excellent experience with eTrailer! Thank you!

Ultimately, the hitch went on (1 star for that) and looks good (one star for that) for a total of three stars. The installation though was not as advertised.

“Grounding stud” hole too small. Yep, had that. Had to “nudge” the stud a little with a hammer to get the hitch in position. This ultimately constrained the position of it so that, no matter how much I ground on the frame (for reasons left completely unexplained in the instructions but other reviews suggest it’s to help with carbon canister clearance) the hitch wasn’t going to move anyway!

Which brings me to the carbon canister clearance. Had to modify that (also not in the instructions) so that it cleared the carriage bolts and nuts. This wasn’t hard since the canister mounting brackets are plastic but completely unexpected and appears to have been addressed by Draw-Tite with a $100 auxiliary bracket. One other issue is that, on tightening, the carriage bolt spacers rotate into the carbon canister nutplate and cause it to misalign with the (large) hole in the frame for it. To get around this, I placed the canister mounting bolt, torqued the carriage bolt nuts, then removed the bolt, ground the frame hole, and installed a new bolt as the 6mm 10.9 bolt from the kit had no threads left.

Another one - the underbody panel trimming dimensions are not even close! See the photo. They’re off by nearly two inches from side to side and three inches along the length of the vehicle which, at the end of the day, doesn’t impact function but makes for a very frustrating and ultimately, ugly end result. How this is off by this much, I can’t begin to understand. Photos are included and I’m hopeful this can help someone get it right(er than I did).

CURT! Please repeat this installation, revise the instructions and pay more attention to the Hybrid version. etrailer should do the same for the Hybrid with a video. I shouldn’t have to scour the reviews (reviewers, thank you for helping to bail me out and, yes, I’m wishing I would have read them ahead of time because I wouldn’t have bought this).

I’ve done three other hitches including one Curt and two Draw Tites (and many other car projects) with zero issues. This one though took 5 hours and one unexpected trip to the hardware store for a new 6mm carbon canister screw. Not fun at all.

Recommend against this hitch :(

I installed this hitch receiver on my 2020 Chrysler Pacifica Limited about a year ago. The receiver itself is great and I’ve used it many times - mostly for bike racks. The install took about 2 hours with 2 people and the instructions were excellent. Highly recommend!

by:
2018 Subaru Forester

Got this for a 2018 Pacifica Hybrid. Installation instructions were great, but it was a tough, two man job.

Unfortunately the receiver is does not stick out far enough from the bumper. As the hybrids are not rated for towing the primary use for the hitch is going to be bike racks, and with our 4 bike 1-UP in the stow position the rack winds up being too close to the car to open the hatch...not an issue on any of our other cars (prius v, forester). Receiver really needs to come out another 3" to edge of bumper. We can still make it work, just not perfect.

by:

Easy to install and works great!

Great hitch. I did need help installing it (I didn't have the proper jacks or the torque wrench). Tucks in nicely and holds my 4X bike rack like a champ

by:

Nice hitch but installation was way more difficult than expected and I have installed 3 hitches in the past. Not for the faint of heart.

2020 Chrysler Voyager

The hitch is strong and well made. Been lugging my bikes and ebikes with no issues at all.

I only rated it 4 stars because installation of hitch was a bit difficult because the holes did not line up. I needed to spread the hitch out with a jack because the way it sat in the warehouse, the metal shifted.

But overall it’s a good hitch.

I found that this receiver is very well built. Heavy duty steel, well built except for one thing. On the 2020 Chrysler voyager I installed the receiver on, the grounding bolt on the driver side rear did not line up with the hole fabricated on the receiver. Consequently, I had to buy a metal cutting blade and remove the whole lug. It took a while to get it off. Definitely makes for a tough time when installing by yourself.

Depending how off the bolt is, it may be a flex issue. This is a common occurrence as hitch receivers are made of mild steel that flex with the vehicle. Here is a help article regarding the matter:

by:
2018 Chrysler Pacifica

I have used this trailer on our Pacifica Hybrid for three road trips around the midwest, the product has only been used for a bike rack as the Pacifica Hybrid is not rated for towing.

The hitch has performed well with the vehicle. It did not sway or create any odd sounds. The one disadvantage is the hands-free lift gate sensors are blocked by some of the hitch and that function of the vehicle is impaired by the hitch. If that is not an issue for you this hitch is a great fit for those who want a fuel efficient van and the ability to haul some bikes on a rack.

by:
2018 Chrysler Pacifica

I installed this on a 2018 Pacifica Hybrid. Mostly smooth sailing, except for 1 hiccup. I didn’t read the paper directions first, just watched the install video. Didn’t realize that there is a slightly different installation process for the hybrid, which the manufacturer recommends grinding the holes in the frame slightly larger to allow it to sit further back and avoid contact with the carbon canister on the driver side. Since I already had the hitch in place once I realized this issue, I searched some Pacifica owner forums and found an alternate solution, which involved slightly modifying the bracket which mounts the carbon canister to allow space for the hitch bolts. Wasn’t very hard, just a little extra time/work to figure it out. It would be nice for e-trailer to add a hybrid-specific install video.
All told, install took about 3 hours for 2 fairly handy dudes, including searching forums and such. Final installation looks pretty clean.

by:
Dodge Grand Caravan

My only complaint about the hitch itself is that there is a small hole on the drivers side to accommodate a screw with a nut on the bottom of the car and the hole in the hitch is too small for the nut. I have done this job on a Dodge Caravan a couple of times before and found the Pacifica to be much more involved. First the bolts had to be installed into the frame of the car, then all the covers on the bottom of the car that needed to be removed, modified and reinstalled. It was a long and difficult process to do alone and without a lift. A floor jack is a must to lift the hitch and hold it in place while you put the nuts on and to take the drivers rear wheel off. There are 3 screws in the wheel well that hold the cover onto the rear bottom of the car.

This hitch is great! It is exactly what I needed for my hybrid Chrysler Pacifica 2018. I was able to install it myself with the instructions provided and I use it very often to transport my 4 bike rack and also a platform for extra storage. It looks great on our minivan!

Hitch is working very good

by:

The trailer hitch itself is great - no complaints at all about quality, even after over a year! My one issue was simply that it didn't fit my chrysler pacifica hybrid (granted it was a newer hybrid that may not have been as well known) as promised without me making a small (but annoying) modification to my frame. Once that was done, all worked well, but it took much longer start to finish than expected.

by:
2018 Chrysler Pacifica

I installed this on a 2018 Pacifica Hybrid. The hitch installation went well. Most everything lined up correctly but there were a few places that did not go on as easily because I installed it on a Hybrid Pacifica. The kit did not come with a good solution for the emissions canister on the drivers side. They could have drilled the small hole on the drivers side slightly larger to accommodate the ground wire that needed to be removed. I did not like the idea of moving it because that was the factory grounding spot. Other than those two areas the installation went well. I would recommend it to anyone that needed a hitch. The hitch is well constructed and the installation instructions are accurate.

by:
2019 Chrysler Pacifica

Had my mechanic install this hitch on my 2019 Pacifica. He said it was a super easy install - no issues. Arrived earlier than expected. The receiver doesn't stick out very far as I expected from the photos, but we are still able to get large mountain bikes on our Kuat rack without the handlebars being too close to the van, in other words, it sticks out far enough for a bike rack.

by:
2017 Chrysler Pacifica

Hole tolerances for clearance holes were off, so I had to pull the whole thing off again and significantly open up a hole to get it to fit. Got it on there eventually but shouldn't have to modify a custom hitch.

Ypu arent wrong about that! You shouldnt have had to do any more than what the instructions outline. It sounds like your hitch was perhaps flexed or that maybe weld nuts needed to be brushed out to make them their proper size. They can get clogged with debris and many times require some cleaning before installation of a hitch. I went ahead and attached our help article about correcting flexed hitches.

by:

Works perfect with my van. Im able to have cargo on the basket and still be able to open my lift gate. Use it all the time for camping and family trips.

by:

It fits the hybrid, but the est of time of 90 min is extremely far off. It took me 5 hours. One longer bolt for the carbon canister on the hybrid would have saved time. I ground down the plastic which then fit over the front drivers side bolt. The cutout instructions are wrong for the splash guard. Having clearer instructions would have been nice. Maybe shine a light, all the photos are black.

Working great on my Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid van! The mechanic had to do a little extra problem solving to get it to fit - but it did fit and it has been awesome!

While the receiver generally fit and looks good, it did have a problem with the 2019 Pacifica Touring L. On the drivers side, there was a hole provided to fit over an unused grounding bolt that didn’t align. If I had access to a heavy duty drill press, it would have easy to redrilled a hole in the proper location. I did not so I was left with needing to grind and chisel away the bolt. Also, it was very difficult to reinstall the rearmost exhaust hanger due to the close proximity of the receiver support and the configuration of the hanger.
