Im looking to purchase a complete Flat Towing package for my 2017 Chevy Equinox with Adaptive Cruise Control. I was wondering if the Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System will be good for us as we do a lot of driving through the Cascade and Olympic Mountains. Is there a different braking system we should use instead?

The Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251 system will definitely work for your travels through the mountains. The Inertia sensor detects deceleration and signals system to activate brake pedal with proportionate amount of pressure. The towed car's brakes are activated at the same time and with the same intensity as those in your motor home to provide proportional braking.
To flat tow your 2017 Chevy Equinox you'll also need a tow bar, tow bar wiring kit, base plate, and safety cables. You'll also need to follow the listed instructions in your owner's manual to get the vehicle ready to flat tow. I have the following recommendations for you below:
Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates - 2" RV Mount - 6K Item # e74ZR. This tow bar has non-binding arms that make attaching and disconnecting on any terrain super easy. This tow bar also comes with safety cables so you won't have to purchase them separately.
Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit Item # RM-154. This wiring kit will splice into your vehicle's wiring to signal using your tail lights instead of running magnetic lights to the rear of your vehicle every time you need to tow.
Base Plate: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms Item # RM-523184-5. These direct-connect brackets provide a quick and easy hookup with your tow bar and removable arms provide a clean and unobtrusive look when not in use.
Safety Cables: RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000lbs # RM-643. The coiled design will prevent the cables from dragging on the ground.
Note: As per GM Technical Service Bulletin 17-NA-348, GM has identified 4-cylinder models of this vehicle as having steering instability issues while towing. If you have a 4-cylinder model of this vehicle, you will need a # RM-76517 instead of a # RM-76511, and will need to leave fuse DLIS #32 intact and pull the ABS module fuse located under the hood. Note: due to manufacturing variances, some 4-cylinder models may label the ABS module fuse as #15 or #16. You will also need to install a charge wire kit, # RM-156-25.
