How To Use Rooftop Tent with Rack On Retrax XR Series Tonneau Cover

Question:

Let me start off by saying how helpful and thorough your website is! Clearly you have put in place experts that have a thorough product knowledge of the items you sell. My question the T Slot system for the Retrax XR Pro does have compatible accessories from Thule, Yakima and Rhino however none of them seem to have the ability to take on a hard top, roof top tent. Estimating a 400-500lb static load I am having troubles finding the right product to safely carry the RTT with the Retrax. I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado Crew Cab with the 6-6inch bed. I am looking for a T Slot Rack that sits at bed height OR something Mid height as I would still like to pull into the garage with the RTT mounted. What Thule, Yakima or Rhino rack will accommodate the static weight of a Hard top RTT into the Retrax T Slot system ? You assistance is greatly appreciated! Thank you

I have some great roof rack options compatible with the Retrax XR Series Tonneau Covers. The most heavy duty option would be the Yakima OutPost HD Overland Truck Bed Rack part # Y01152-5955 which offers up to a 300 lb capacity. Unfortunately, you won't be able to obtain more than this as the mounting rails are the limitation, not the rack. That said, most rooftop tents have built-in ladders which help bear weight. The Yakima Skyrise Rooftop Tent part # Y07436 for example only requires that the roof rack be rated for 165 lbs so it will work with the above setup.
