Does 2020 Toyota Tacoma Need Brake Controller to Activate Travel Trailer Brakes
Updated 07/07/2021 | Published 07/05/2021 >
Question:
My 2020 Tacoma has a factory installed tow package and a 7-pin harness. Do I need a separate brake controller for my travel trailer that has electric brakes? I can’t tell if the trailer brakes are engaging or not. Thanks

Yes you do need a brake controller installed in your 2020 Toyota Tacoma to control the travel trailer's electric brakes as there isn't one installed in your truck from the factory and there's no other device that can actuate the brakes.
To do that you'd need a brake controller like our very popular Brake EVN part # TK63VR with the install harness designed for it and your truck part # 3031-P and you'd be set. The I-Command is so popular because of how well it works, how reliable it is, and how great it is priced.
