Installation of Solera RV Awning

Question:
I want to replace an old dometic awning on my 2009 bison 3 horse trailer. Im trying to figure out what length I can install. I thought the arms needed to be mounted on the vertical steel studs, but this weekend I noticed awnings on other trailers that were positioned between the vertical studs. Heres the question, can you rivet the vertical arms to the trailer sides without screwing into trailer frame. I know that the top of the arms will go into the trailer frame - Im just trying to figure out the rest of the arms. Thank you.

I called Lippert to be certain and yes, the Solera 14' White Fade RV Awning Roller and Fabric, # LCV000211475 can be installed with use of rivets. Their statement being the type of hardware used is not a concern as long you have sufficient backing, i.e. your selected point to mount has enough solid structure to it.
