Recommended Radial Trailer Tire Slightly Larger Than 4.80-12 Speed Rated For 78+ MPH

Question:

I have a 4x8 utility trailer with 4.80 x12 tires. What is the best tire to use for 5 hr drives ranging 70-78 mph. I would like quality radial slightly larger, maybe 145/80-12. I assume these would fit same wheel. Also use exact same tire on boat double wide Wave-Runner Trailer. Again, looking for best size and quality replacement. And speaking of wheels, looking for good quality replacements for those as well.

The 145R12 would be a perfectly slight larger replacement for your current 4.80-12 tires.

I recommend the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire - Load Range D # AM10130 which is a radial tire with a speed rating of 81 MPH so it will work perfectly at your desired speed range, and will do perfect on long trips.

The ST145R12 will be right at 1/2" taller and 3/4" wider so you should not have any fitment issues. The # AM10130 is a high quality tire that comes with a 1-year worry free warranty, and a 5-year limited warranty should any issues arise.

For wheels it comes down to if your trailers use the 4 on 4" bolt pattern or if they use the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern.

If they use the 4 on 4" bolt pattern I recommend the Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Tire w/ 12" White Spoke Wheel - 4 on 4 - LR D # AM35351DX, and if they use the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern I recommend the # AM31199DX.

These combinations use the # AM10130 but come with the tire pre-mounted on a Dexstar wheel which is popular trailer wheel due to its strength and quality.

I included videos of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
