Question:
Hello, I have a 2018 Mazda CX-9. I would like to get the Curt Echo Wireless to tow a camper. I read that I also need to install a 7-way RV upgrade kit for my 4-way connection. However, I do not want to get a cable from the back all the way to the car battery for towing once a year. Do you know if I can connect the 7-way to the auxiliary power outlet in the CX-9 trunk? Or, even just get a separate battery to keep in the trunk. I will only be towing at most once a year and I dont want any exposed wires. I just keep the cables in the trunk. Thanks,

The Curt Echo Brake Controller part # C51180 will require a 7-way trailer connector for operation so if you only have a 4-way trailer connector then you can use the 4 to 7-Way with 4-Way Adapter part # ETBC7L to convert what you have. The only wires you must connect on the adapter is the 4-way, ground, and then power wire which must be run to a battery. If you want to store a battery in the trunk that's fine but if not it would have to go to the one in the engine bay.
