Question:
What is the proper torque setting for the lug nuts when installing these wheels on my trailer? 2 Kenda 5.30-12 Tire W/12inch White Wheel - 5on4.5 - Lr D

Expert Reply:
The proper lug nut torque setting for the Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12" White Wheel # AM30859 is going to be between 85-95 ft/lbs.
It is important to remember to evenly torque the lug nuts in a star pattern in stages. If you try to tighten the lug nuts out of sequence or apply the full torque rating before you tighten any other lug nuts the wheel will more than likely be uneven on the hub face causing vibration issues.
Follow the torque sequence in the picture but do them in stages. Start at 30 ft/lbs, the 60 ft/lbs and finish up with the 85-95 ft/lbs.
The Powerbuilt Digital Torque Adapter # ALL940962 is a great option as it will alert you audibly and visually when you reach the desired torque range. It also has a calibration device that will prevent you from worrying that your torque wrench is damaged and out of range.
