Question:
Hi, I just picked up a 2008 liberty, which I want to flat tow behind a motor home that is equipped with Air Force one and blue ox. What all do I need to flat tow this jeep? Also, I also need a hitch and wiring kit as well. Thx!

First you will need the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX1976 to connect your 2008 Jeep Liberty to your motorhome. This will fit the Blue Ox Adventurer, Aladdin, Allure, Alpha, Avail, Aventa, and Trion tow bars. If you have a different model tow bar let me know and I will help find an adapter or replacement.
The Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit # HM56204 will plug directly into the taillights on your Liberty. This can connect directly to the motorhome via the 4-way connector that is on the harness or it can be wired into a 6-Pole, Round Pin, Trailer Wiring Socket # RM-910030-7 if you are using a 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Cord # RM-146-7.
The Demco SBS Second Vehicle Kit for Air Force One # SM99209 will give you the parts that you need for the braking system on your Liberty. This system will tie into the liberty's battery for power, so I recommend a Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to ensure that you do not drain the vehicle battery while towing.
When towing your Liberty the battery needs to be disconnected from the vehicle harness. The Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch # RM-766 is the simplest way to accomplish this when you get ready to tow. You will only need to flip a switch inside the Liberty to disconnect the power going to the Liberty. Remember the Air Force One braking system will need to still remain connected to the battery to function properly. You can make this connection at either the battery terminal or if using the disconnect at the hot side of the disconnect.
