Updated 06/18/2026 | Published 06/11/2026

Question:

I have a Blue Ox tow bar, etrailer base plate, and brake system. I bought them all from you. Can you see my orders, maybe with my email? Anyway, I would like to talk to soemone about what else I nee to tow my 2025 JEEP Sahara Wrangler.

It looks like you're already in great shape because you have the three major components needed for flat towing: the etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit part # e98948, the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Flat Tow Brake System part # BLU37TR, and the Blue Ox Alpha Non Binding Tow Bar part # BX7380. I was able to use your email to find your past orders like you mentioned. I can help make sure you have everything else you'll need.

To complete the setup, you'll need tow bar wiring so your motorhome's brake lights, turn signals, and running lights work through the Jeep while you're towing. I recommend the Curt Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit part #C96JR because it's a plug and play harness that makes installation much easier.

You also need a dedicated 12 volt outlet kit like part # RM-9332 to provide power for the Blue Ox Patriot supplemental braking system since your Jeep's factory outlet is not active while the vehicle is being towed. If you plan to use the remote monitor that came with your Blue Ox Patriot braking system, you also need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751490. This switch provides a brake signal from the Jeep so the monitor in your motorhome can accurately indicate when the supplemental braking system is applying the brakes.

With your RV and Jeep parked on level ground, measure from the ground to the center of your RV's hitch receiver and then to the center of the base plate tabs on your Jeep. If those measurements are within 3 inches of each other, you're good to go and won't need a high low adapter. If the difference is more than 3 inches, you'll need an adapter to bring the tow bar closer to level. In that case, the etrailer Adjustable High Low Adapter part # e52ZV is a great option because it lets you adjust the amount of rise or drop to fit your setup.

That's really it! Once those pieces are in place, you'll have everything needed for a complete flat tow setup and you'll be ready to hit the road with your Wrangler in tow.

What motorhome will you be towing the Jeep behind?

You will also need a wiring harness to make your jeeps taillights mimic your motor home’s taillights.numerous brands available. I also like the tablet that lets you control and monitor the jeeps braking from the camper.

@Leroy Doesn’t the Curt Custom Taillight Wiring kit that Heather suggested do that?

I like the wiring kit that they are recommending much more than the diode kit that I purchased. ( Much easier to install since you don't have to cut into the existing harness and install the diodes!) I tow a 21 Jeep Wrangler Sport 2dr. Manual Trans with a 25 Fleetwood Bounder 35K Motorhome. I also purchased a Drop Hitch to level out hitch Rails, 2 Hitch Pin Locks so couldn't be stolen and an E-Trailer Hitch Cover ( since I leave the tow Bar on my camper. Been great so far and I ended up doing my own installation since every dealer I reached out to hadn't done an install yet!! Feel free to email me with any questions and I will be glad to help. Don

@Don Doing a flat tow install by yourself is really impressive, Don, especially using that diode kit for the wiring. I appreciate you jumping into the conversation to give Thomas some real-world insight. Thanks for the advertisement, by the way! ?? How is the Fleetwood treating you?

We love the Fleetwood Bounder 35K. Would have preferred a Diesel Pusher but our purse strings couldn't justify the cost! We downsized from a 48ft Jayco Seismic Toy Hauler and towed with a GMC Sierra Denali 3500HD Dually. We have always purchased all of our towing needs from E-Trailer with the greatest of confidence that we were getting quality products and information! We towed the Seismic with a Champion 25K Puck Mounted 5th Wheel Hitch. I can't over emphasize the importance of watching the very professional E-Trailer Videos when trying to decide on a product or get advise and direction for an installation!

How about safety cables or breakaway cabling?

@ThomasM Hi Thomas, good catch. I didn't mention safety cables originally because they are included with the Blue Ox tow bar you purchased, but if you do happen to need a replacement set , the Blue Ox 7' Safety Cables, part # BLU22UR, would be a great option. As for the braking system, you're all set there. The Blue Ox Patriot Portable Flat Tow Brake System, part # BLU37TR, includes the required breakaway system, so you won't need to purchase that separately.
