Since the Swagman XP # S64960 is made of steel, you can attach magnetic lights to the carrier. For this route, I recommend the Peterson Magnetic Tow Lights - Red # PE26UR. The Peterson lights serve as running lights, brake lights, and turn signals on your bike rack. For installation, the wires will install right into the four-way wiring harness on your 2017 Subaru Outback. If you need a harness, I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56040.
The harness I suggested is for the 2017 Subaru Outback Wagon. If you want a wiring harness fit for a different year/make/model of vehicle, I would be happy to assist you further with that information.
