Parts Needed to Do Alignment on Trailer Suspension
Updated 05/12/2021 | Published 05/10/2021 >
Question:
Question. Our new tandem axle boat trailer axles are out of alignment. The front axle is out about 3/8” on the diagonals measured from center of ball hitch. The rear axle is 3/8” out of parallel to front axle. There is some clearance around spring seat hole and leaf spring guide pin. Why can’t we enlarge the hole slightly more and move axle forward on one end and back on the end using this method rather than using a kit that moves the leaf spring mounting points forward or back? Thankyou,

We have a kit that you can use to align your tandem trailer suspension with the Correct Track Trailer Alignment and Lift Kit # RR23QX which basically gives you slotted hangers (for lack of a better term) so that you can make the tweaks you mentioned. As far as slotting your current hangers to make the adjustments we can't safely guarantee you wouldn't have any issue with that. You might be fine but it could also cause premature failure of components.
Or another option is to find a trailer shop who can do trailer alignments and see if they get it taken care of.
