Installing The BrakeBuddy Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Kit
Question:
I am going to put a Demco Stay-In-Play on a 2019 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk. I was advised to use this part number to keep the battery charged while being towed. I already have a 6 pin connector on my Jeep which attaches to the 7 pin connector on the RV. How do I connect this battery charger? Does it connect to the power in the 6 pin connector and then the towed vehicles battery? I cannot tell in the pictures if the small black box has a female plug in it or not. I am very confused.

Since you are using the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System w/ Wireless Coachlink Monitor # DM86VR you'll want to run the red wire of the BrakeBuddy Towed Vehicle Battery Charge Kit Item # BB54FR to your 6 pin connector unlike in the two videos I've attached of brake buddy braking systems where they show the installation for the battery charge kit since we don't have a solo video for this particular item. I've also attached a picture of the installation steps. The small black box holds a fuse that you'll want to remove before connecting the black wire to your vehicle's battery. This charger kit works by receiving power from the RV and carrying it to the towed vehicle's battery.
So the red wire will go to your 6 pin connector, the black wire to your vehicle's positive battery terminal, and the white wire will be grounded.
