I have a 2015 Toyota 4runner. I think I need at least 60inch crossbars to allow for overhang. Will any brand crossbars be compatible with Thule Hullavator 898? Or do I have to go with Thule brand only. Thule sell crossbars without foot pack and I am annoyed that I have to buy them separately.

The Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier # TH898 can certainly be installed onto a roof rack that is not Thule brand. To determine what size crossbars you need, you will want to measure from the center of one roof rail to the center of the next roof rail as seen in the attached photo.
Thule states that you need overhang of at least 4" on each side. If your measurement was 50" or less than you will for sure be able to use the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Aero Crossbars - Raised, Factory Side Rails - Aluminum - 58" Long # MPG216. This is the most economical option that will still be able to accommodate the Thule Hullavator. It also comes with the towers already attached to the crossbar, allowing for a very simple installation as seen in the video I attached. The weight capacity is 165lbs and it features the top track for track-mounted accessories such as the Hullavator.
