Question:

I saw your recommendation to use a 47 inch bar but they say you need 4 inches at least for 898 install. Other sites use a 53 inch bar. Is only the square crossbar that needs 4 inches of overhang? The 47 inch bar looks great in your video but it does not look like it is 4 inches past the foot mount. In your video of accessories you can put on the crossbars the shot of the Hillavator is on longer bars if I am correct. Just confused on which size bar to buy. Great site. Thanks

The Thule Hullavator Pro - Lift Assist Kayak Carrier # TH898 requires a minimum of 4" overhang on both sides, no matter which crossbar setup you go with. For your 2019 Subaru Forester I recommend going with the Malone Airflow2 aero crossbars. Not only does the Hullavator fit around these crossbars, but the crossbars also have an integrated T-slot channel in case you decide to install any channel-mounted accessories down the road.

Since your roof has the factory roof rails running front to back, you just need # MPG215 for the crossbars, and you'll be all set!
