Do All Trailer Hitches For 2014 Ford Edge SEL Require Drilling

Question:
Hello. All the aftermarket tow hitches for a 2014 Ford Edge SEL I see requires drilling two holes out of six bolt holes required My wife and I will rent a 5x8 u-haul trailer once In a while. There will be no camper pulling here, unless its a tiny tear one under 2000 lbs. Can this hitch with fitment for SPORT be used on SEL? Draw-Tite Max-E-Loader Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 Item # 75728 I live in upstate NY and, well winter is not kind to drilled holds in metal out here. Thanks

I can understand not wanting to drill holes to mount a hitch, though the Draw-Tite # 75728 is only a fit the Sport model and will be unable to fit your 2014 Ford Edge SEL. I did double check with the manufacturer for you just to be certain. So to add a hitch to your '14 Edge SEL you will need to drill 17/32" holes in your frame rails for installation.
Drilling to install a hitch is something that is pretty frequent and a lot of people do, even in areas there is bad weather, and you can prevent corrosion by spraying some paint on the drilled holes before finishing up the install. As far the hitch is concerned, for your 2014 Ford Edge SEL, I like the option from Draw-Tite as it has the best bumper clearance and it is also the only hitch rated for use with weight distribution if you do ever use that when towing. The correct fit is the following:
- Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75992
The other thing you will need if you do wind up pulling a small trailer with your '14 Edge SEL is a wiring harness, and the most reliable option is from Tekonsha, the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118515.
