Question:
I need help identifying the brakes on my trailer. Heres what I can find: - Shoe has this info on the edge of the liner - ABEX 6100 GG 04/01/LP. - Shoe width is 2 5/16, lining is 8 1/2 long -Drum has this info - 8-250 -Drum inside diameter is 10 The assembly is mounted with 4 bolts, the nut being on the inside. The trailer is custom-made, carries a portable rock climbing wall. Can you help identify this assembly, or better yet, what replacement you may have? Thanks

What you describe is a typical (10 inch inside diameter x 2-1/4 inch inside depth) brake drum for a 3500 lb capacity axle which would use a 10 x 2-1/4 inch brake assembly. Assuming you have electric brakes, I'd recommend a self-adjusting brake assembly like # AKEBRK-35-SA. After an initial adjustment or setup involving applying the brakes around 15-20 times at slow/moderate speed, the brakes will be adjusted for optimal braking and will continue to adjust themselves as needed. The brake assemblies don't include the mounting hardware, if you'd prefer not to reuse the existing mounting hardware, you can replace it with
# BRKH10Bwhich provides enough hardware to install 2 brake assemblies.
If you have hydraulic drum brakes, you'd use # AKFBBRK-35 which aren't self-adjusting and would use the same hardware mentioned above.
