Will Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver C93CR Require Trimming On 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport

Updated 03/09/2021 | Published 03/06/2021

Question:

I am looking to purchase a 2” Curt C93CR Class III receiver hitch for a 2020 VW Atlas Cross Sport. It is going to be used primarily for Bicycle and Cargo carrier purposes. I would like to know if the rear bumper would need to be cut to fit or replaced in the event it is installed? According to the photos on the description it doesn’t look like it. Can we confirm if this trailer hitch can be installed without any drilling/cutting? Thanks.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C93CR you were looking at for your 2020 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport is designed to sit very close to the rear fascia and may require trimming. The instructions do not mention trimming or give a template of where would need to be trimmed so you very well may not have to trim the fascia, but it is a possibility with all of the trailer hitch receiver options for your vehicle.

The # C93CR is a great choice for a bike rack or cargo carrier due to its 750lb tongue weight rating which shows the strength of the hitch and will give you peace of mind knowing that your hitch will be able to carry your items without worry that you are overloading it.

If you have not already purchased a bike rack I recommend taking a look at the Thule Helium Pro 2 Bike Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting - Aluminum # TH9042PRO which can accommodate two bikes weighing up to 37.5lbs each, and is very easy to install due to it only weighing 19lbs.

I included a video of the # TH9042PRO and the written instructions for the # C93CR for you to take a look at.
