Question:

Can you recommend a trunk mounted bike rack for a 2021 XC90 for 3-4 bikes. I know you recommend the Yakima Hangout 3 but wanted to see if any others might work. I may get cross bars on top if that helps with the trunk mounted rack. Thanks!

The Yakima HangOut 3 Bike Rack - Trunk Mount - Adjustable Arms # Y02638 that you mentioned is the only 3-bike rack that is confirmed to fit the trunk of your 2021 Volvo XC90. This is the bike rack I recommend going with as there are not any 4-bike carriers for the trunk of your vehicle at this time. This attaches to the top of the trunk with the included straps and will not interfere with any roof rack / crossbars.

I also think it's a great idea to add Security Strap # Y02623. One end of the strap will wrap around your bike rack and the other end will be locked into your trunk to keep the bike rack secured to deter theft. If you plan on transporting women's or children's bikes then you will want to use Yakima Tube Top Bike Adapter Bar # Y02531. This will help stabilize any bike with an oddly-shaped frame.

If you want to transport 4 bikes then you will need a hitch-mounted bike rack such as Curt Premium 4 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches # C18064. If you do not have a 2" hitch then you can go with etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III - 2" # e53KR . I have attached demonstration videos for these products.
