For your 2004 GMC Yukon XL you will need the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - GM # 3015-P which will connect to your Yukon under the driver side dash.
I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Proportional Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 because of how easy it is to setup and use. It features an LCD display that is very easy to read and know exactly what is going on with your brake controller.
