Question:
Hi, I am contacting you with a few questions. I currentown a Ford Transit HD350 and I know nothing about hitches. I would like to install a hitch and a mount to carry my Honda EU2200 gen. Please forgive my ignorance with these questions in advance. 1 I assume I need to buy two thing: the actual hitch that bolts into the chasis of the van and a generator mount that will hold the gen. Ia that correct? 2I saw that you sell this: TLA790. What I don’t understand is how would i manage to open the two back door with that gen mount on the back? 3 In addition to that mount, what actual hitxh would you recommend that I install in the chassie of my van? I doubt I will cary more than 150 pounds. Thanks!

The trailer hitch I recommend for a 2017 Ford Transit T350 is the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver part # e98842 which is a direct bolt-on fit with no cutting or drilling required. It comes with hardware and instructions which is everything you will need for installation expect common hand tools.
In order to secure a generator, the 16x21 TorkLift Lock and Load SideKick Cargo Tray part # TLA7901 is an excellent option which has a lock for security. That said, it wasn't designed specifically for a Transit so issues such as the rear doors not being able to open are possible. This will be the case for pretty much any tray though. That said, you could use something like Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender part # Y02483 if this feature was a must have.
