Does Shank Length of Curt Adjustable Ball Mount # C45901 Affect Capacity of Hitch
Updated 11/24/2020 | Published 11/21/2020 >
Question:
Hello, I am considering Curt Adjustable ball mount, C45901, for my 2006 Toyota Highlander with the factory tow package. This mount has both 11 and 12 shank length options. The receiver of my vehicle already extends past the end of the bumper, so my question is, is an 11 shank length too long? Will a long shank length affect towing characteristics? Ive search around but unable to find a consensus, thank you,

An 11 inch long ball mount is on the longer side but not long enough that it would it diminish the towing capacity of your Toyota Highlander. If were to go much beyond 11 inches I would begin to worry that maybe the leverage would be too much but for your situation I would not think twice about it being totally.
