Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for 1,600 lb Tongue Weight

Updated 10/21/2020 | Published 10/19/2020

Question:

We have an old round bar stabilizer hitch that you cant read anything on it any more and think we are overloading it. We have a 2006 ford f350 and pull a 36 ft. toy hauler dry weight is 8,620 tongue weight is 1,380. We guess loaded weight to be about 10,000-11,000, tongue 1,500-1600. What do you recommend? PS we used to pull 5th wheel toyhauler and it pulled great. This one does not. We are added air bags to our truck now.

For a tongue weight in the range of 1,500 to 1,600 lbs there is only one recommended option for a weight distribution hitch, and that is the Blue Ox SwayPro. This is the only hitch that has the capacity you need, as it is rated for tongue weights between 1,500 lbs and 2,000 lbs.

The SwayPro will do a fantastic job of ensuring you are towing a level trailer while minimizing sway for a more comfortable towing experience. The correct hitch for this is the Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution with Sway Control # BXW2000.

You will also need a hitch ball for this the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # 63840.
