Releasing and Removing Curt Gooseneck Hitch Ball With Broken Lever
Updated 10/17/2020 | Published 10/15/2020 >
Question:
I just purchased a 2012 ford f350 with the puck in bed system. The curt gooseball installed will not come out and the lever on top is broken off. How do I get this ball out? I can just barely grip the release with needle nose pliers.

Expert Reply:
Your Curt Pop-In Ball for Factory Ford and Ram Underbed Gooseneck Hitches - 2-5/16" Diameter Ball # C60601 lifts the pin when that lever is lifted. Because that lever is broken off you will need to lift that pin and turn it 90 degrees to release the ball bearings that hold the hitch ball in the unit frame.
You may want to use some penetrating oil below where you need to grip the pin just to allow a more free movement of the pin and the ball bearings.
