I have 2020 GMC 3500hd and the factory trailer brake system will work with my Dexter dics brakes on.

The integrated brake controller of your 2020 GMC Sierra 3500HD is compatible with the Dexter DX Series Electric Over Hydraulic Brake Actuator for Disc Brakes # K71-651 like it sounds like you have have without the use of an adapter.
