Solid Legs Aren't Long Enough When Camping On Uneven Ground And Require Using Boards

Updated 08/16/2024 | Published 08/03/2020

Question:

We were at a site last weekend that was a little bit uneven. So much so that the legs werent long enough. We ended up putting some boards under the feet so they reached to the ground. Do you have any better suggestions or solutions to this issue?

To help alleviate having to find boards or using boards at all I recommend going with a 3 step set up like the SolidStep Manual Fold-Down Steps for 26" to 29-7/8" RV Door Frames - Triple - Aluminum Item # LC791572. If I am correct your entry height is no higher than 28" from the ground. The triple step has a 27" - 36" door entry height. Your bottom step may be closer to the ground with the triple step when camping on a flat surface but these eliminate using boards when camping on an uneven surface.

I do have a triple step fold down steps on my 2019 32 foot premier travel trailer. The steps are at the rear of the trailer. On an uneven campsite the adjustable legs can be at least a foot short. Are there longer adjustable legs that I can purchase? I have even considered purchasing longer aluminum tubing and making longer legs myself. Your thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks
