Question:
HI, I have a 2020 Ford Transit 250 that I would like to add a brake controller. The vehicle already has the 4 pin and 7 pin connectors and hitch from the factory. Im getting conflicting information about what can be done and what is needed. We would be towing a dual axle trailer with electric brakes. Can you help me with what is needed to make this happen as easy as possible. Thank you for your help.

The easiest solution to add a brake controller to your 2020 Ford Transit T250 that has a 7-way installed already would be with the Curt Echo Mobile part # C51180 which basically just plugs into an active 7-way and once synced to a smart phone is ready to tow. But if you wanted to install a traditional brake controller like the Prodigy P3 part # 90195 that you referenced you still can but you'll need to do some hardwiring.
For a wiring kit to install the brake controller to the 7-way you would want the Wiring Kit for 2 and 4 Brake Electric Brake Controllers # 5506. This will provide the power source and ground for the wiring for the brake controller. You will need to test the wires from the brake pedal switch of your vehicle to find a circuit that has voltage when the brakes are applied and none when not applied. This will be the circuit you will run the red wire to.
Finally you will need to run a length of 10 gauge wire (part # 10-1-1) from the brake output circuit of the controller to the brake output circuit of the 7-way (blue wire). The # 10-1-1 is sold by the foot so you will need to order a quantity of the amount of feet you will need. I attached an install video for you to check for this controller on a 2020 Ford Transit T250 for you to check out as well.
