Low Power to Factory Brake Controller on 2017 Ford F-150

Question:
2017 f-150 brake controller. I have a 2017 f150 ecoboost max tow package. Trailer brakes have always been very weak, so much so that you wonder if you are imagining them working. With my wife in the truck and me in the trailer at the junction box for the wire harness and communicating on our phones I consistently get a low voltage at initial application of brakes, maybe 1 volt give or take. After 3-4 seconds the voltage will go up to 5.?? When she squeezes the manual slider at a gain of 5 it will go up to 6.?? Volts. At a gain of 8 it will be around 10 volts and at a gain of 10 will get over 12 volts. No matter how we test there is alway a 3-4 second delay of any real voltage weather from pedal or manual overide. Is my controller bad? I have seen many others talk of low brake output from ford controllers.

It makes sense that the voltage will be different based on the aggressiveness of the manual override, particularly with a proportional controller but a 3 to 4 second delay should not be happening on your 2017 Ford F-150's brake controller. It sounds like there is an issue with the brake controller sensor as that is a very long delay.
I recommend replacing it with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller # 90195 or Brake EVN # TK63VR, both of which will install in your 2017 Ford F-150 with the Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 22292.
