does the back 12v wire to the trailer have a fuse?

Yes there will be a fuse that protects the 12 volt trailer accessory circuit of your 7-way wiring. If this is factory wiring of a truck you'll want to check out the fuse box diagram or the owners manual.

@Reginald Depends on the vehicle but in the fuse box there should be a fuse/circuit labeled 12 volt accessory.

@Don Depends on the circuit as they all have different requirements and are all separate. Are you referring to the 12 volt accessory circuit?

@DonaldD Have you checked the pins of your connector for corrosion and tried cleaning them?
