Picking Out Weight Distribution and Sway Control for R-Pod 178

Question:

I have an RPOD 178 with hitch weight rated somewhere around 250. Since I wouldnt mind future proofing for a larger trailer and I am uncertain if my tongue wight could exceed 400 if it is loaded, is this a n ok option? My concern is if RP66083 is rated for 400-800 and i am around 250-300 with that be an issue? As well I have a 2018 Tacoma, just curious if there is any way to know if clearance will be an issue?

Ideally the loaded tongue weight of a trailer falls in the middle of the tongue weight range of the weight distribution system. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. So if your dry tongue weight (unloaded) is 250 lbs you could pretty easily find yourself over 400 when it's loaded and if you have cargo in the truck.

Another option that I think would be ideal would be to go with the lower rated version of this system part # RP66082 which has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lbs. Then if in the future you find yourself needing a higher rated system you could simply replace the spring bars with a higher bar # RP22225 which then would convert the kit to the # RP66083.
