B&W Companion Fifth Wheel Head Placement on my Short Bed 2017 Ford F-250

Updated 05/12/2020 | Published 05/09/2020

Question:

I have a 2017 F250 super duty with a 6-3/4 ft bed. I am installing a BandW companion slider and would like to know a recommendation for the fifth wheel placement. The arms can be set up to locate the pin at 1inch or 3inch in front of the axle. would you have some idea of which one would be preferred before I just start trying things?

When setting up your B&W Companion 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider part # BWRVK3400-5W in your Ford F-250 I like to start with them forward as far as possible. It helps with the weight transfer back to the front of the truck. While minimal it exist. Maneuver around from that point slowly in a large empty parking lot. IF it clears all the way around I would leave it alone. If it tries to make contact that would be the only time I wove it to the rearward position.

Campers and king pins are always different in lengths so to tell you the exact best setup first thing is something I can't do. But if you'll follow my advise above and get it right you will be taking the best advantage of your set up as possible and it is only something you will do once.
