Can Truck Tailgate Come Down When Using Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier

Question:

I would like to use this tire holder on the rear of my Toyota pickup. My spare has a 15 inch rim Which shouldn't be a problem. I just want to make sure that the tailgate will come completely down if I have the tire in the lowered position. Thank you for your time.

It is possible you will be able to put your truck's tailgate completely down when using the Roadmaster Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195125.

The carrier comes down horizontally (see accompanying photo) to the side of the bumper, so it depends on the diameter of your tire and where your hitch sits in relation to your tailgate. What you can do is measure the distance from the top of your hitch to the tailgate when it is down. Then, compare that measurement to whatever about half of your tire diameter is, which should give you a good idea of if your tailgate can come all the way down with this carrier.
