4-Way to 7-Way Adapter Recommendation for Installing Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller

Question:

Hello, I own a Toyota Highlander and want to convert my already installed 4 way flat plug to a 7 pin. Have looked at videos and your kits ETBC7 and ETBCL kits and dont believe I need all that but do need to know the following. If I plan on using a Curt Echo Wireless brake controller, one of your kits suggests I need only 10 gauge black wire, where the ETBCL kit only provides 12 gauge. Why the difference?. If I go with 10 gauge instead of 12 do I need to use the 40 circuit breaker or is the 30 amp OK for either 12 ga or 10 ga? Thanks

Since your plan is to use the Curt Echo part # C51180 the 4-way to 7-way adapter you need is the part # ETBC7L which was made with the Echo in mind. It comes with the correct size breakers and wire gauge that the controller needs which happens to be 12 gauge and 40 amp.
