Trailer Hitch with the Best Ground Clearance for a 2012 Volkswagen Golf TDI

Question:

I have a Curt trailer hitch and its ugly, too low to the ground. I have heard that your hitch sit up higher, right under the bumper? Could I use a GTI hitch if I remove the muffler? I am going to remove the muffler any way for fuel mileage.

We do have trailer hitches that fit right beneath the bumper on a 2012 Volkswagen Golf TDI. Take a look at the Draw-Tite trailer hitch, # 24825 and Hidden Hitch # 24825. I have included a link to the instructions which contain a diagram showing the location of the hitch once installed. As you can see the receiver will be right under the bumper. You will not need to remove the muffler for installation.

You would want to use a hitch that is designed to fit your vehicle because they are specifically designed to fit certain vehicles and not be interchangeable.
