Can the MaxxFan Deluxe be Installed in Place of a non Powered Vent

Updated 05/19/2025 | Published 04/21/2020

Question:

Is the MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent a replacement fan for an older powered fan or can it be installed as new replacement where there currently is not a power source? How difficult would it be to wire in a spot where there is not a current power supply?

The MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan part # MA00-06401K is the perfect solution to replace an older non powered vent or to use as a direct replacement for an existing powered vent. It uses the standard 14" x 14" cut out requirement which is the same with your current vent.

As far as powering it goes there is a high likely hood that there will already be 12 volt power ran into the area behind your current non powered vent's trim ring that you can utilize. If this does not exist then using part # 12-1-1 will allow you to run power from an existing 12 volt source and run it up to the vent. It is typically not too difficult to do but it really depends on the camper, where you are getting the power and what stands in the way between the fan and source.

For the installation use the Roof Vent Installation Kit part # 344270KITW it will have all you need to install your new vent.

I highly recommend an upgrade it can make camping much more enjoyable. You will only have to go through the trouble of installing it once and you'll be able to enjoy it every time you use your camper. Take a look at the install Rob did that I have linked. He replaces a non powered vent with this one and you'll see the 12 volt pre wire that he uses.

Hi, Randy. My question is very similar. I have a Jayco 174BH, and there's no fan at all. I want to install the MaxxAir Delux (00-06401K) and if I do the closest power source is a 12 volt ceiling light, just a few inches away. Should just tying into that power source be adequate? Thank you!

@JkB The vent will draw about 5 amps so it is fine to use a nearby power source as long as it can handle the amperage. If that wire is for a ceiling light only you should be fine.
