Will The Curt Front Hitch Work With Motorcycle On 2012 Toyota Tundra
Updated 04/28/2020 | Published 04/20/2020 >
Question:
I would like to purchase the Curt 31198 front hitch receiver to put my dual sport KLX 250 300lbs on the front hitch. Will I be legal to drive with the motorcycle on the front of my 2012 Toyota Tundra while towing a 3,000lb pop up camper in the rear?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 31198 which is a bolt-on fit for a 2012 Toyota Tundra will work well for a motorcycle and carrier. The trailer hitch has a 500 lb vertical load rating so as long as the weight of the motorcycle and carrier does not exceed this you will be good to go. The etrailer Motorcycle Carrier w/ Ramp for 2" Hitch part # e98873 which only weighs 58 lbs is what I recommend you use if you don't already have an option in mind.
In regards to legality, I am not a legal authority but I can't think of any laws that the above setup goes against. The only thing I would be careful of is the headlight visibility while driving at night.
