Do Trailer Wheels Have a PSI Rating
Updated 04/21/2020 | Published 04/18/2020 >
Question:
You stated as long as I have metal value stems my rims will hold 110 psi. In regards to psi, this will come from the valve stem so as long as you use the Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem part # AM20906 you will be covered over 110 psi. So the rims I currently have would work? My psi is 80 psi on the tires I currently have on the RV. So if this is true then I would only need to order the new tires, correct?

Expert Reply:
In regards to a trailer wheel and tire assembly, the psi rating comes from the trailer tire and valve stem. Therefore, if the psi rating of the valve stem exceeds that of the trailer tire you will not have any issues. The trailer wheel itself does not have any sort of psi rating. The highest rated valve stem we offer is the Americana Metal, Bolt-In Valve Stem part # AM20906 which is rated for over 100 psi.
