Question:
Hello I have a 6 lug 6000lbs dexter axles under my trailer and Im wanting to convert it to 8 lug . Can I order 7000lbs brakes and drums with bearing kit and put them on my existing axles or will I need to change complete axles ? Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:
In order to covert from a Dexter 6,000 Lb Axle with 6 on 5-1/2" Hubs to a Dexter 7,000 Lb Axle with 8 on 6-1/2' Hubs you'll need the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # 8-219-4UC3-EZ which will be a direct replacement. If you want to replace the braking assemblies as well, the Dexter Nev-R-Adjust Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # 23-464-465 is just what you need.
Therefore, you won't have to change out the axles at all and you'll have better braking power as well with the above assemblies.
