Question:
Can I just use my current weight distribution hitch and slide it into 1 of the lower holes?

I have a couple great solutions but placing a weight distribution system in a Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount part # 325-GH-304 is not the way to go.
Instead you can in most cases attach your current weight distribution system to one of the following and eliminate the additional connection point and problems that arise from it.
The first is a fixed Weight Distribution Shank for Gen-Y Hitch part # 325-GH-0352 the second is one of my favorites the Gen-Y Shock Absorbing Weight Distribution Shank - 2" Hitch - 3" Drop/Rise part # 325-GH-12006 this will work for tongue weight up too 700 lbs. and provides a cushioned effect improving the ride quality dramatically while headed down the road. It uses a torsion flex type of cushion that hepl take alot of wear and tear of both your truck and trailer.
