Nick was very helpful and helped me decide which hitch would work best for me. Hitch arrived on time and was a very heavy hitch that should do anything I need it for.

Have approached several RV an Tow experts for a solution to a car/motorcycle tow combination for months. Came across Etrailer on the Internet, and “asked their expert” for a suggestion. They suggested a heavy duty dual receiver that was substantial enough to accommodate any tow combination requirements. Their advice was “dead-on” right, and I ordered the parts and they were delivered a few days later.

Their expertise is excellent, as is the ease of doing business with them. I can enthusiastically recommend this organization, and the professionals working with them!

Got this to carry our electric bikes between the motorhome and tow vehicle. Works great.

Looks like an extremely well built product. Glad I made the choice I did in buying this ball mount.

  • Does the Use of a Dual Hitch Adapter Reduce Tongue Weight Capacity
You are correct, the use of an adapter typically reduces the tongue weight capacity by 50%, but the amount can vary slightly. Since you are towing a trailer, you do not want to use the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter, 6" Drop/Rise # RM-077-6 since it is designed for flat towing. As for the other dual hitch adapters available, I checked and they all reduce capacity by 50% so that would leave you overloaded. I do, however, have a solution. I recommend using the Replacement Shank...

  • Recommended Adjustable Ball Mount w/ 6" Rise for a Motorcycle Carrier
What you read was true in most cases but you do not need an adapter. What you need is the Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount item # 325-GH-304. This has four stacked 2" receivers that will allow you to mount your motorcycle carrier and not lose any of your hitches capacity. The Gen-Y item # 325-GH-304 has a tongue weight capacity of 1,500 lbs and will give you a rise up to 7-1/2". The Curt High-Low Adapter for Tow Bars item # C26FV you were looking at can only be used...

  • Towing Utility Trailer With Bike Rack While Needing More Rise From Ball Mount
I think we have a solution for you here, but the two parts you mentioned are using an adapter and adapter together. What you can do instead is which is use a Gen-Y ball mount shanks with stacked receivers. This gives you the ability use both a ball mount and bike rack, stacked at different heights so they don't interfere with each other. I'm not sure how much more rise you need, so here are a couple options: - 7-1/2" Drop/Rise: Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount # 325-GH-304 - 10"...

  • Dimensions of the Lippert Straight Shank for Lippert Jack-It 2 Bike Rack
Hey Josh! The Lippert Straight Shank for Lippert Jack-It 2 Bike Rack item # LC67HD measures 11-1/2" long x 3-1/4" wide. The spacing from pin holes from center to center is 8-1/4". It's not a traditional shank though that you would see on a hitch. It only works with the Jack-It 2 Bike Rack for A-Frame Trailers. If you're trying to double up your hitch to use a bike rack and tow a trailer you'll need to use something like the Replacement Shank item # 325-GH-304. This won't mess with your...

  • High-Low Adapter Needed for Flat Towing a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Sahara
Since you can use different brand high-low adapters with any tow bar we actually have flat towing high-low adapters that will work for your situation. Unfortunately none of our dual adapters have the weight capacity to accomplish this. Attached is a link to our selection of high-low adapters that you can filter through. These range from a 2" rise/drop # RM-072-2 all the way to a 10-1/4" rise/drop # RM-048-10. If you're looking for an option with about a 7" drop like what the Malone # RM-048-10...

  • Dual Hitch Adapter for Bike Rack With E-Bikes on 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Towing 2024 Aliner Classic
I would say throw a hitch on the trailer and then add the bike rack but none of the racks with a high enough capacity are rated for a travel trailer. For a hitch adapter I recommend using the Gen-Y stacked receivers like the # 325-GH-305. Unlike normal adapters this will not cut your hitch capacity in half. It also gives you good options for rise to clear your trailer jack and propane. I'm not totally sure what clearance you need without trying it or taking measurements but I can help...

  • Recommendation for Dual Hitch Bike Rack and Ball Mount Compatible with Heavy Trailer
We have a solution for you but it isn't a dual receiver but rather a stacked receiver ball mount. This won't be an adapter so won't reduce the tongue weight capacity of your trailer hitch like the adapter you asked about. It will allow you to use the top receiver for your 4 Bike Thule Apex # TH9025XT as long as your loaded tongue weight is within the parameters of your trailer hitch. You can also use a weight distribution system if desired at the same time. My recommendation for you...

  • Availability of 2" to 1-1/4" Reducer With Built-In Rise for Bike Rack
Hi LDJ; we have reducers like the # e63YR but none with a built in rise. What you can do is pair it with Gen-Y stacked receivers like the # 325-GH-303 with a 5" rise/drop or # 325-GH-304 with a 7-1/2" rise/drop. The design prevents any reduction in hitch capacity like other adapters and will get you the extra clearance. The Gen-Y is pretty solid but I recommend using an anti-rattle like # GY88XR to help reduce unwanted movement as you add more parts to your bike rack setup.

  • How to Carry a Bike Rack and Tow a Trailer At the Back of a Tow Vehicle
What you're wanting to do can be accomplished, but we'll need to get you some different equipment because you never want to use 2 adapters, and from my experience all of the dual receiver options using the style you're showing in your diagram, similar to the Malone # MPG544, will actually reduce the weight ratings by 50% instead of 25%. (plus each accessory that reduces the weight rating will be reducing the original weight rating of the hitch - not the "new" weight rating achieved by using...

Hey Sharlene, thanks for reaching out! I have a few options for you to look at, but ultimately there aren't any ball mounts that sit further out and have a receiver on top of them with enough clearance for your bike rack. The first option would be to use the Gen-Y Replacement Shank # 325-GH-304 which gives you the ability to hold the bike rack up a little over 6" above the ball mount itself. Thanks for the pictures, that's a very cute dog! I have a solution for you but looking at the space, and motorized jack, on your Escape 21C travel trailer's tongue you are not going to be able to mount a e-bike capable rack. The Swagman Straddler Bike Rack Carrier item # S80503 you were looking at may fit with your weight distribution system brackets but it and similar options all top out at 100 lbs. There really isn't an option to lower your hitch 6 inches and carry 400 lb motorcycle with carrier. The Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter, 6" Drop/Rise # RM-077-6 is the strongest option with a 400 lb tongue weight capacity that doesn't account for the weight of the carrier, so is not a working option. It would be too dangerous to use the Curt Extender # C45796 with a dual receiver like that as it would put too much movement on all of the different parts and extenders like this cut your tongue weight in half so your Tacoma would be overloaded. You are on the right track of thinking, but the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-8 actually isn't rated for towing a trailer so we need to look at a slightly different with the Gen-Y Hitches.
