Nick was very helpful and helped me decide which hitch would work best for me. Hitch arrived on time and was a very heavy hitch that should do anything I need it for.

Have approached several RV an Tow experts for a solution to a car/motorcycle tow combination for months. Came across Etrailer on the Internet, and “asked their expert” for a suggestion. They suggested a heavy duty dual receiver that was substantial enough to accommodate any tow combination requirements. Their advice was “dead-on” right, and I ordered the parts and they were delivered a few days later.

Their expertise is excellent, as is the ease of doing business with them. I can enthusiastically recommend this organization, and the professionals working with them!

Got this to carry our electric bikes between the motorhome and tow vehicle. Works great.

Looks like an extremely well built product. Glad I made the choice I did in buying this ball mount.

  • How to Carry a Bike Rack and Tow a Trailer At the Back of a Tow Vehicle
What you're wanting to do can be accomplished, but we'll need to get you some different equipment because you never want to use 2 adapters, and from my experience all of the dual receiver options using the style you're showing in your diagram, similar to the Malone # MPG544, will actually reduce the weight ratings by 50% instead of 25%. (plus each accessory that reduces the weight rating will be reducing the original weight rating of the hitch - not the "new" weight rating achieved by using...

  • Can I Use the Thule Arcos Enclosed Cargo Carrier w/ a Dual Ball Mount?
Yes, you can if you use something like the Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount item # 325-GH-304. This ball mount will not reduce your hitches capacity like adapters do. If you already have one and would like me to verify it will work feel free to email me back with some information about yours. You will most likely not be able to open the Thule Arcos Enclosed Cargo Carrier item # TH25YE while you have a bike rack installed above it is the only conflict I can see you encountering...

Hey Sharlene, thanks for reaching out! I have a few options for you to look at, but ultimately there aren't any ball mounts that sit further out and have a receiver on top of them with enough clearance for your bike rack. The first option would be to use the Gen-Y Replacement Shank # 325-GH-304 which gives you the ability to hold the bike rack up a little over 6" above the ball mount itself. The second option is to use the Lets Go Aero Jack-It PLUS Bike Rack # LGA47ZR which mounts in...

You will need one of our Gen-Y stacked receivers to have multiple receivers capable of more than 500lbs of tongue weight. The Gen-Y Rebel X Ball Mount # GY39VR is capable of 6" of drop and the Rebel X # GY99VR is capable of 7-1/2" of drop. Both of these are capable up supporting up to 700lbs of tongue weight. • How to Carry Bikes Between Motorhome and Towed Vehicle
Carrying bikes while using a tow dolly can be a bit tricky since the rear of your towed vehicle will be angled down so instead I recommend using the Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount # 325-GH-304 in the rise position and then using the lowest receiver for your tow dolly and the highest receiver for a bike rack like the Thule Range # TH9057 to carry your bikes between the motorhome and tow dolly. If you were using the # RM-316 the only way the lock would fall off is if it wasn't properly seated on the hitch pin when installed. • Can Top Most Receiver Tube in Gen-Y 325-GH-304 Replacement Shank Be Used
I believe you're wanting to know if all 4 receivers provided by the Gen-Y # 325-GH-304 shank are usable, is that right? All 4 receiver tubes on the # 325-GH-304 shank are indeed usable, including the top most one. You could even use more than one receiver, but you'll need to abide by either the 1500 lb tongue weight capacity of the shank or the tongue weight capacity of the hitch on your vehicle, whichever of the two is lower.

  • Is There an Option to Lower the Trailer Hitch Receiver for Motorcycle Carrier Use?
There really isn't an option to lower your hitch 6 inches and carry 400 lb motorcycle with carrier. The Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter, 6" Drop/Rise # RM-077-6 is the strongest option with a 400 lb tongue weight capacity that doesn't account for the weight of the carrier, so is not a working option. You are correct, the use of an adapter typically reduces the tongue weight capacity by 50%, but the amount can vary slightly. Since you are towing a trailer, you do not want to use the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter, 6" Drop/Rise # RM-077-6 since it is designed for flat towing. You are on the right track of thinking, but the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-8 actually isn't rated for towing a trailer so we need to look at a slightly different with the Gen-Y Hitches. For your application you could probably use part # 325-GH-303 or # 325-GH-304 as these are somewhat similar to the Roadmaster that you were previously looking at and they are definitely rated for towing and utilizing your bike rack.
