I bought a RAM 2500 and a 2 1/2 receiver and also need quite a bit of . I have a BXW1000 Blue Ox and wondering if I can just swap out the shank?

Yes you can switch out the shank on your Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BXW1000 on your 2016 Ram 2500. The Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution Shank for 2-1/2" Hitches # BXW4028 will fit directly in your receiver without any adapters.
Weight distribution shanks are interchangeable so long as the weight capacity and rise or drop match your set up. Since your current weight distribution is rated for 1K TW and 10K GTW, the 2 1/2 Blue Ox shank will be more than enough since it's rated for double that at 2K TW and 20K GTW.
