The easiest way to install a brake controller on the 2020 Ram 1500 is to use a wireless brake controller that plugs into the 7-way, Curt Echo Brake Controller part # C51180. The Curt Echo brake controller simply plugs in line with the 7-way and only requires an active 12V circuit on the 7-way plug to operate because of it's internal sensors. The brake settings can be controlled via an Apple smart phone with operating system 8.0 - newer or an Android smart phone with operating system 4.4- newer. The Curt Echo also doesn't require you to have a bulky box on the dash of your new truck so it saves space as well. It can be used to control trailer brakes on a trailer with up to 2 axles (4 brake assemblies). I have attached a video for your reference.
If you are towing a larger trailer (triple axle) or want a more traditional style brake controller, I recommend to use Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90195 and plug in wiring adapter part # 3024-P. The plug in adapter will plug into a port under the dash to power the brake controller. The P3 is a nice option that can be mounted on a level horizontal plane of a 360 degree circle as long as it's in the direction of travel so you the mounting location options are versatile. I have attached a diagram of what I mean and a video of the install. The P3 also has 5 storable settings so you can tow more than 1 trailer and it will save the boost levels that are required for each particular trailer.
If you are truly looking for the easiest way, the Curt Echo is your best option. If you don't have a compatible smart phone, tow a larger trailer or more than 1 trailer the P3 is your best option.
