Power Saving Mode of Tekonsha Prodigy P2

Question:
I just had a P2 installed on my 2012 Tahoe, for occasional towing of a horse trailer. I noticed that the blue lights stayed on even after the truck was turned off and locked for 20 minutes. The instructions do not mention it, but is there a power-off button, so it does not eat battery power when not needed?

There is not a power off feature, but after 20 or so minutes of inactivity, the P2 will go into a power saving or sleep mode, and the display will go dark. The power drain experienced during this time is miniscule and will not cause any problems whatsoever. Tekonsha recommends unplugging the unit at the rear of the controller if the vehicle will sit for more than a month or two without running.
If unplugging the unit from the rear when its not being used would make you feel more secure that the unit will not drain your battery, it is by all means okay to do so but it is not necessary.
I have also linked you to the installation/operating instructions, in case you no longer have them.
