Higher Weight Capacity Ladder Rack that Fits 2019 Ford F-250

Question:

I plan to purchase a Retrax power trax pro XR for my 2019 Ford F-250. I pull a camper with it and would like the option of putting my weekend amount of firewood in a basket on a rack system over the bed. The dilemma is finding a cross bar strong enough for the task? I would also like the option to haul two or three bikes on the rack system along with the firewood? I would guess the truck bed sides should have zero issue supporting 500 - 1000lbs?

Since your plan is to install the Retrax PowerTrax Pro XR # RTT-80384 if you have a long bed or # RTT-80383 for if you have a short bed all you'd need to install a Yakima OverHaul HD part # Y01151-58 ladder rack which has a 500 lb capacity would be the adapter # Y01155 and that would be covered. Now if you do need more weight capacity the TracRac sliding ladder racks like the # TH43003XT-785 for short bed or # TH43003XT-000 for a long bed and these do have a weight capacity of 1,250 lbs. Then for a bike rack to fit the top channels of either ladder rack we have the # TH598004 that would work great as well.

While your answer was helpful, either I misunderstood or what I want is not possible? I do have a short bed and I would like a system where the basket, retaining the firewood is approximately 4-6” atop the retractable bed cover. Thank you for your help. I would appreciate any help in this matter but I’m really not interested in a ladder rack because I was already having some heart burn as to how difficult it would be loading the firewood to my desired location. Thanks again for your help.

In that case the best option we have is the Yakima Outpost HD Overland Truck Bed Rack # Y01152-58 with the adapter # Y01155 as long as the weight would be less than 500 lbs.
