Does the RV shower valve have to have the hose connection facing up?

The D-spud of the Phoenix Faucets RV Shower Valve # PF213321 that you referenced does not have to face up to function. You might be thinking of a vacuum breaker. This is for adding a shower head if desired. If you were to face the spud down instead you'd have the knobs opposite of what most are used to. The knob labeled H would be on the right and C would be on the left.

For a dual handle shower valve in the rubbed bronze look we have the part #PF223541 and the #PF223503. We don't have anything totally black though.
